Weekend at the Lake

This past weekend we had a fun relaxing weekend at the lake just the 3 of us! Colton loves loves going to the lake and asks me just about every morning when we are going to the lake again. :)
Colton loves playing on our little beach (which we only have bc the water is so low).
Austin joined us on the beach for some fetch and swim time. She loves playing in the lake!
This big storm rolled in quick and we had to go inside while it stormed and rained for a good 3 to 4 hours.  We didn't mind because we need the rain and we just lounged around inside.
After the storm passed we headed back outside to give Austin a bath.  Colton loved helping Daddy with this!
Of course when bath time was over there was water hose play and fun! :)
While out side we discovered a snake skin in the flower bed.  Jeff pulled it out and pieced it together to find...
It measured 6 feet 10 inches!!! WHAT?!?! That is a huge snake! We determined it was a Diamondback Water Snake, which is non venomous...but still way too big! And we have comfort in knowing that he is now bigger since he shed his skin!:(
The next morning was all sun, so back to the beach area we went! Colton loved hunting for "sea shells" (muscle shells) on the beach.  There were lots to find and he had the best time looking for them and scooping them up with his shovel.
Colton washed off all his shells and lined them up on the porch. He was so proud of all the shells he found!
Such a fun family summer weekend at the lake!

Bump Update

Baby Girl Banner is doing great and growing good! We had our 28 week check up and everything looked good! I passed the diabetes test, which we were a little concerned about this time since this baby makes me want to eat sugar all the time!! :)  Baby girl seems to be moving all the time which is great reassurance she is ok in there! The bump is growing and bigger than it was with Colton for sure.  We can't wait to meet her in just a few months!
Baby Bump at 24 weeks (we took this picture at the aquarium in front of the stork...hehe)
The bump looks smaller in this pic...either the angle or the stripes or both. :)
Baby Bump at 28 weeks
Colton had to join in on the picture taking. Silly boy:) He is excited to meet baby sister and talks about all the things we will do for her and with her.  So cute!

Rodeo

Last weekend we took Colton to the Mesquite Rodeo for one last "Staycation" activity.  This was Colton's first Rodeo and he liked watching the horses the most.  This kid really likes horses!!
Anxiously awaiting the rodeo to start!
First thing up was the bareback riding.  Colton was just in awe of what was going and had never seen a horse do that before!
The chuck wagon races were fun to watch too.
Before the rodeo and at intermission there was an area where all the horses were and you could see them behind this fence.  Colton loved going over here and looking at all the horses.  He even got to pet one that came to the gate.  My silly boy was so timid earlier to pet a pony at the pony rides they had, but he could not stick his arm through the fence fast enough to pet a full sized horse! Ha!
The roping events were not Colton's favorite and he got a little bored, but he loved it when they did the barrel racing.  If you ask what his favorite part about the rodeo was he will say "when the horsies went really fast and the funny clown",
Then it was time for the bull riding. He was in awe of this event as well.  He learned the rider had to stay on the bull 8 seconds and had fun counting to 8 for each ride.
Fun family night at the Rodeo!
Grandpa even joined us for the rodeo fun!

More "Staycation" Fun

We have been having a lot of fun with Colton doing all these local activities and getting that precious one on one time in with him before baby sister comes. :)
Tuesday we took Colton to the movie theater for the first time.  We went to see Monster University since he really likes the Monsters Inc. movie.  He did good and enjoyed seeing a movie on a "really big screen" and of course the popcorn. :)
Then on Thursday we decided to try out the Frisco Athletic Center Water Park.  They have a really big water play area for kids. We were only there for 30 min and a storm popped up and they closed the pool. :(
First attempt at the water park. You can see the nasty clouds in the background.
So, we got vouchers to come back and decided Friday would be good! :) This time we stayed for 3 hours and Colton had a BLAST! It is such a fun little water park perfect for his age! We will be back for sure!
(Pictures aren't great here bc we were having too much fun and didn't want to get phone all wet)
Of course no trip to a pool is complete with out a snack...Pirates Booty! :)

Perot Children's Museum

On Monday we visited the new Perot Children's Museum as another "staycation" adventure.  It was a really neat children's museum that Colton will really enjoy when he is older.  He called it the "dinosaur museum" because we told him we would see dinosaur bones.  He had a good time exploring everything!
We went to the children's play museum first, which Colton loved so much we had to go back again before we left!
They had a mock farmer's market that Colton loved playing in sorting fruits and veggies.
Colton thought this wall was really fun.  When you touched it it would light up.
Off to see dinosaur bones! They had so many and it was a really neat exhibit!
More exploring at the museum.  Of course Colton loved anything that made music or noise! :)
This exhibit showed movement and Colton danced here for a long time...entertaining anyone that went by! :)
Outside of the museum Colton enjoyed playing with the giant frogs and of course the music makers!
We had a great time and can't wait to see how he will explore the museum when he is older!

Colton's First Baseball Game

As part of our fun "Staycation" we got tickets to a Rough Riders game.  This was Colton's first time to see a live baseball game.  He did really good and enjoyed all the sights, sounds and of course snacks of a baseball game! It was unseasonably cooler for this time of year so it was a nice, not too hot, summer night! Super fun!!
Colton with his glove ready to go to the game. He was so excited!
 At the ballpark
We had great seats on the third base line and close to the field.
Colton loved having popcorn at the game! He ate almost the whole bucket. :)
Enjoying the game with Daddy and Mommy.
Colton thought the mascot Deuce was so funny and enjoyed watching him dance!
 Doing the Wave!!
Such a fun night at the ball game!
