First Trip to the Dentist...Unplanned of Course!

Well, Colton had his first trip to the dentist on Wednesday...for a chipped tooth! Tuesday night Colton was running into the kitchen from the living room and tripped on his own two feet and face planted into the tile floor. He busted his lip and chipped his front tooth. I could not believe it! The next morning I called the pediatrician for the dentist number and we went in later that day. They took x-rays (which Colton hated being held down for) to make sure there was no further damage to the tooth and to make sure the piece that chipped off was not in his lip. Thankfully it was a minor chip and the piece was not in his lip. Then the dentist decided to put a little cap on the chip to smooth it out and protect the tooth from infection. They had to hold Colton down and use a devise to hold his mouth open. The procedure only took about 5 minutes but poor Colton cried the entire time. He was probably so scared and I am sure it brought back some memories from his surgery not that long ago. The cap looks good and I hope it stays on. While the dentist was fixing the chipped tooth he noticed his other front tooth was hit too and had a little fracture in it. There is nothing they can do for it, but if he hits it again it will probably break. Oh boy...now I am paranoid about him falling and hitting his mouth. At least these are baby teeth and will fall out one day. Colton sure is giving us a ride and he is not even playing sports yet!!
Here is the chipped tooth
Another picture of the tooth and you can see his fat bottom lip too

Wonderful Weekend

I just love weekends like this last one…beautiful weather and family fun! It started off Friday night with dinner at Rudy’s (a favorite of ours). After dinner we made an impromptu trip to Cabella’s next door to let Colton look at the “fishies”. He had a blast! I just love little simple family fun nights like this!
He kept saying "look a big one". It was so cute!
On Saturday we went to Sesame Street Live! I had been telling Colton we were going to go see Elmo for a few days before. All day we would ask him "who are we going to go see?" and he would excitedly answer "Elmo!"
Here is Colton walking in to the show. He was so excited!
Colton and Big Bird before the show started.
Waiting on the show to start. The chair kept trying to fold him up! :)
All of Colton's Friends!
And this is the look he had when they came out and for most of the show. He watched so intently and seriously trying to figure out how they came to life. He was just taking it all in. He would say the character's name that was on stage and then ask where they went when they left the stage. :)

We got Colton a glow Elmo toy during intermission and he loves it. He had fun with it for the second half of the show! When the show was over and we were walking out he said "bye bye Elmo. bye bye Ernie. bye bye Big Bird." and so on until he said bye to all the characters.

After we got back from Sesame Street we took a walk and a wagon ride in the beautiful weather.

For dinner we went to another favorite place, Tupy’s. Colton loves eating here because he gets chips and dip, his favorite!!

Sunday we made a trip to the lake. We had not been in a while and wanted to check on the water level and get some much needed yard work done. It was a beautiful day and Colton loved being outside at the Lake!

Playing in all the leaves!

Hanging out on the doc.
"Are you sure it is too cold to go swimming?"
Helping Daddy in the yard
Of course a trip to the lake is not complete these days with out a ride on the John Deer! :)

Weekends like this just make me so happy!

23 Months

How can it be that our baby is 23 months old and will be 2 this month!?!?! My how time flies when you are having fun! Here is what Colton has been up to this month.
• Still a great sleeper with nighttime sleep from 8:30 to about 8:00 am with one 2 hour nap. I can say this month we finally got him to take naps again on his own since the surgery! WooHoo!!
• Food variety is such a challenge with this boy! But this boy can eat him some chips and salsa/queso! We keep trying things, but he is still picky.
• Colton still has 16 teeth. We think he is still working on his 2nd year molars.
• He is wearing 18 month and some 18-24 month clothes and size 4 diapers.
• Colton’s vocabulary continues to grow and grow! It is amazing how much he remembers and some of the things he will say. Most of the time it keeps us laughing for sure!
• Colton is starting to use his imagination and pretend play more. He likes to make his airplane fly, stir things up, and make his trains go choo choo. It is fun to see him play this way! We moved up a level at Gymboree and each week is a different pretend play theme. He loves it and really gets it!
• He is doing so well with his manners! He pretty much always will say “thank you” if you give him something he asks for. He also will say “welcome” after he says “thank you” before we have a chance too! :) Most of the time he will say please when he wants something as well. He will also say “bless you” when you sneeze…and then laugh. :)
• Colton loves loves loves to be outside playing in the backyard with Austin and in the dirt and rocks. He asks to go outside every day! Thank goodness the weather has been awesome for lots of outside playtime!
• Some of his other favorite things right now are: working puzzles, pointing out basketball on tv, eating Mexican food at Tupy’s, every time he does something himself he asks me to “take a picture” (guess he is used to the camera! Ha!!), practicing drinking from a normal cup, dinosaurs, pointing out letters and counting, the iPad and our iPhones (especially the Talking Tom Cat app), dancing, facing forward in the car and pointing out things he sees, and being a monkey climbing all over everything!
Colton is so sweet and gives the best hugs and kisses!
So happy playing outside!!
Just Dance! He is dancing with the penguins on Happy Feet. :)
The Monkey! I left the playroom/office for a second and returned to this.
Colton loves Gymboree!
Here is Colton practicing drinking from a cup. You can tell how proud he is of himself! :)
"Rollin with my homie Ernie!" :)
Who needs toys when a bucket can provide lots of entertainment! He thought this was hilarious!

Exciting Change for Colton

On Sunday Jeff and I cleaned, and I mean cleaned out our cars. It was long over due and I cannot tell you how many cheerios and goldfish I pulled out of the car seat, back seat, floor and any other small space in the car! :) Well, we decided while we were doing this to turn the car seat around! I know it is a month early...but oh well! He was so amazed by his new view and really likes it!!

Sweetest Prayer

Colton and I have been reading this little prayer book every night before bed. He has it memorized now and he "reads" it himself. The first time he recited it, it brought tears to my eyes. It is just so precious to hear him say such sweet words!

22 Months

Colton turned 22 months last Sunday. He is doing great and keeping us on our toes for sure!!!
• Still a great sleeper with nighttime sleep from 8:30 to about 8/8:30 am with one 2 hour nap. We had to do a little re nap training from the hospital this past month with was not too fun!
• Still a picky toddler when it comes to food. We have added yogurt and little cutie oranges to our favorites list! He still is not a fan of pasta (including mac&cheese) and veggies. He still loves to dip!
• Colton still has 16 teeth. We think he may be working on his 2nd year molars though.
• He is wearing 18 month clothes and size 4 diapers.
• Colton is putting more and more words together to form little sentences. It is so fun to communicate with him and his silly personality keeps coming through!
• Colton is loving the iPad! He has a folder with all his apps in it and he knows where it is. It can hold his attention for so long! It amazes me how quickly he learned to use the touch screen!
• He is such a silly and funny little boy! He has us laughing all the time. He will repeat and say the funniest things! He has started saying “why” when I say something, but he will immediately say “why not” after he says “why”. HA! He also loves to scream and then look at you and say “that’s crazy”. Also, when we go into his closet or mine, he will say “what wear today?” Little comedian!
• He always wants to try and do things himself. Colton says “I do it” A LOT! He loves to help me load the washer and dryer, feed the dog, attempt to put his shoes on and help pick up his toys.
• Some of his other favorite things right now are: Dinosaurs, singing and dancing, playing outside, going to get the mail with Daddy, looking at pictures of himself on my phone, reading books, petting Austin and telling her what to do :), pointing out big trucks, helicopters and airplanes, giving Eskimo Kisses and playing with his toy cars and trucks. He is so much fun and we love him to pieces!

Here is a video of silly Colton. He is singing a song he made up and then it shows his sweet "ok" answer instead of yes. I love it!!

Having so much fun in this unusually warm winter playing outside on the new play set he got for Christmas!

Helping Daddy with the leaves. This was also the first time Colton played outside after his surgery.

Roll Tide! We had fun watching the BCS Championship Game! Sad to see football season end...Colton loved watching it and saying "touchdown" with arms in the air!
Love this boy!!
