Trip to Alabama for Birthday Celebrations!

We went to Florence, Alabama right after the new year to celebrate my Grandmommy's 80th birthday and my Grandma's 85th birthday.  We had a good time with family and Colton got to visit Alabama! We decided to fly since it was a quick trip.  This was Colton's first plane ride and he was really excited!!
All set on the plane and ready for take off.
Colton was so funny because he thought if he pushed the button on the arm rest it would make the plane go in the air.  When the plane went on the runway he kept pushing the button and got so excited when the plane took off! :)
Colton did great on the flight!
The next day was a big party for Grandmommy! My mom and I planned the party and it was a Ball Jar theme.  It turned out great and everyone enjoyed it!
We had a photographer take some family photos after the party.
After the party we rested up and then went to Grandmommy and Granddaddy's house for dinner.
Here is Colton with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Gary.  He enjoyed spending time with them again, last time was at the beach a year & a half ago!
The next day we went to my Grandma's (GiGi) house to celebrate her 85th birthday!
Here are all the grand and great grandkids that came to celebrate.
Of course we had to throw GiGi in the mix! :)
And here are all the great grandkids that were there: Levi, Hadley, Emory and Colton.
And here is Colton with Uncle Randy and Aunt Helen (or Miss Helen as Colton has always calls her).  Colton loves them and remembered visiting them in the summer!
Aunt Lisa and Uncle Roger (somehow we did not get a pic with them!!) gave Colton this super cute dinosaur piggy bank.  Once we showed Colton you put money in it he went around the room asking everyone for money to put in it! Hadley helped him too! It was really funny! :)
Later that day we took Colton to see Leo the Lion.  I used to go see Leo every time I visited when I was a little girl.  Leo is the mascot for the University of North Alabama, which is in Florence. We went to see them right before feeding time and they were very active. You can see these lions much better than at the zoo and Colton loved it!!
Leo was right by the fence looking at us when we got there.
Leo and Una.  We did not get a picture, but Una would chase a ball around the enclosure and Colton thought it was so funny! I bet she wishes it was a zebra and not a ball!!
Riding Leo!
Colton loved this little adventure!!
That night was rough since Colton got a high fever in the middle of the night. (see previous post).  We got packed up and headed out to fly home with our sick baby.  Here is Colton waiting in the airport. The flight home was rough and Colton cried the last 30 min of it, but we made it back!
We look forward to returning to Alabama for another visit soon!

  1. Elizabeth, it was so good to see you all! Colton is so cute and smart. He comes up with the cutest thoughts. I am so sorry to hear that he was sick again. I hope he is better soon. You and your mom did a great job with the party. I love the picture at the top of Colton, he has the cutest smile. Love you all. Aunt Lisa (Martin)
